Our story

From one room
to your whole back office.

Upstart wasn't built in a boardroom. It was built at a kitchen table, on a laptop, with one person figuring it out as they went — because that's exactly the position most of our customers are in.

How it started

A one-person company,
working out of a house.

Upstart began as a single person with a laptop and a spare room — no office, no staff, no big launch. Just someone who kept getting asked the same favor: "can you help me make this look professional?"

A logo here. A business card there. Then a website. Then a Google listing that kept getting set up wrong by the business owners themselves, simply because nobody had ever shown them how. One small project turned into a steady stream of them, all variations on the same problem: people who were great at their craft and completely out of time to also be a designer, a web developer, and a marketer.

So that's what Upstart became — the place that handles all of it, under one roof, for people who'd rather spend their hours on the thing they actually opened their business to do.

Still true today

We never forgot what it felt like to start with nothing.

That's why every project starts with a real conversation, not a sales script — and why we build things to actually get used, not just look good in a pitch deck. Small business owners deserve the same polish as the big guys, without the big-agency price tag or runaround.

SINCE Day One
Where we've been

The short version.

The Spare Room

One person, one laptop, one growing favor list

It started with friends and neighbors asking for help making their small businesses look legit — a logo here, a flyer there — done at a kitchen table after hours.

The Pattern

Every business needed the same five things

A logo. Cards or signage. A website. A way to show up on Google. And someone to tie it all together so it actually looked like one business, not five separate projects glued together.

Upstart

A real business, built to do for others what it once needed itself

Upstart was built around that exact pattern — a single, dependable place for business owners to get their identity, website, and online presence handled, matched, and maintained.

Now

Still small enough to care, big enough to handle it all

We've grown past that one spare room, but the approach hasn't changed: listen first, build things that work, and treat every client's business like it matters — because to them, it's everything.

What we believe

The rules we built the company on.

01

No jargon

If we can't explain it in plain language, we haven't finished thinking it through. You'll always know what you're getting and why.

02

Everything matches

Your logo, cards, website, and Google listing should look like they came from the same business — because they did.

Your turn

Got a business that needs
a little Upstart magic?

We'd love to hear what you're building — and figure out which pieces we can take off your plate.
